Many therapies prescribed to fight cancer can weaken the immune system.

Cancer treatments can weaken the immune systems and make people receiving them more susceptible to infections, including food borne illness.

Cancer patients should be especially vigilant when handling, preparing and consuming foods and should follow food handling practices of Clean, Separate, Cook and Chill to reduce their risk of getting a food borne illness.
