Staying Healthy

  • Drink 6 to 8 eight-ounce glasses of water every day
  • Drink a full glass of water 5 minutes before meal time
  • Eat your vegetables first
  • Chew your food completely… slow down and enjoy
  • Chew sugar-free gum between meals
  • Choose healthy snacks, like fruits, vegetables, low-fat yogurt, or low-fat cottage cheese
  • Cut down on dressings, sauces and gravy
  • Eat "whole grain" breads and cereals
  • Use low-fat cooking spray instead of oil or butter
  • Bake or broil instead of frying
  • Steam instead of boiling

When stressed, angry or anxious, exercise instead of turning to high-fat "comfort" foods for release. Your mood is likely to improve and you will feel better about yourself later.
