Alcohol Licensees


Alcohol Licensees have a responsibility to the community to do their part to prevent high risk drinking and underage drinking. The Maine Liquor Liability Act has strict provisions that hold retailers and their employees accountable for their actions.

Bars, Restaurants and Stores can protect themselves and the community by:
§        Having an alcohol sales policy that meets or exceeds Maine Law.  Make sure your policy is up to date by using the Maine Office of Substance Abuse Online Policy Generator
§        Ensuring that all employees abide by the employer’s policy.   
§        Providing training to their employees.
§        Asking for ID from anyone who looks 27 or younger (Required by Maine Law). 
§        Working with community members to prevent underage access to alcohol.
